Power of Words

Words. Possibly the most powerful weapon we have. Our words can do more than we sometimes realize or would like to think. Proverbs 18:21 “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Our words have such a huge effect on our lives and everyone around us as well.

We have all had bad days and thought to ourselves or even said out loud the words “Today could not get any worse.” And then, just like that, it does. Now, I’m not saying that you caused that specific bad thing to happen but you were putting out more negative energy by letting the events of your day get you down. The more negative energy you put out, the more negative energy that you receive. Therefore, the more positive energy you give, the more you get back. I have started this blog to spark inspiration and passion in others. I want to show you the power of positive thoughts and prayer. I hope to help you bring happiness and joy to your everyday life. There are a couple of things I would like for you to try now as we start on this journey together:

•Speak words of truth over yourself. What do i mean by that? Well, I mean just that, literally, speak the truth you hear and see. When you look in the mirror, instead of seeing your flaws or thinking about how you would change yourself if you could, tell yourself that you are powerful, beautiful, strong, God fearing, loving, kind, resilient. And believe it because you are. Put sticky notes on your bathroom mirror, write yourself notes to read on bad days. Whatever you have to do to keep your spirit up and to be those things that are important to you.

•Speak words of truth over others. Ok, so how do I do this for other people? Simple— If you notice someone’s gorgeous hair, tell them. Or if you see someone has a shirt that you have been dying to get, tell them you like it and ask where they found it. Complimenting others will bring you a kind of satisfaction and will actually make you feel better about yourself as well. Proverbs 11:17 “Your soul is nourished when you are kind, but you destroy yourself when you are cruel.”

Change your attitude, be positive and optimistic, you will find yourself to be more happy. This does not mean that there won’t still be bad days, because there will. We will always have good and bad days but hopefully this will make for less bad days and make them more bearable as they come. This will make you bounce back quickly and gracefully from the crazy punches and curves that life throws at us. I wanted to keep this first post short and sweet to not overwhelm and just to get a couple easy things that will help with your attitude towards things out there. I will be talking more about speaking truth in my next blog post so keep a lookout! My email is always open for questions, advice, or feedback! Xoxo 😉
